My name is Matthew Zemba, and I am a communications professional living in Bayonne, New Jersey. I am a proud graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, and I currently work as the Communications Associate at Calabrese Management.

 

I have been creating content ever since I was a kid. I grew up using Adobe Premiere Elements, and I'd spend hours working on home "movies" starring my friends. I've always been interested in the production and editing of videos, and that's what brought me into the world of communications.

I started my education journey in Fall 2017 at Shippensburg University. Throughout my college career, I was highly involved with the Shippensburg University Marching Band (SUMB). I joined the band’s Public Relations crew in 2018, where I photographed football games and helped maintain the social media pages. I served as Vice President in 2019 and was elected SUMB President in 2020.

During the summer of 2018 and 2019, I had the pleasure to intern at Hot Frog Print Media. I created videos for their social media, designed posters for holiday closures, and experienced working in a professional setting.

 

In May 2021, I graduated from Shippensburg University with my Bachelor of Arts in Communication/Journalism, accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC). I double minored in Music and Technical/Professional Communications and was a member of the Wood Honors College. I received Dean’s List each semester, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA.

 

As soon as I finished my Bachelor’s degree, I began to pursue my Master of Science in Strategic Communication. I interned at the Shippensburg University Pride Center during the summer of 2021 where I started up a TikTok account, designed flyers and posted to social media. When classes started in August, I began my graduate assistantship with the Department of Communication, Journalism and Media. I managed the department’s social media accounts and supervised a team to plan curated content.

I began working at Calabrese Management in June 2022 after graduation. Calabrese Management is an association management company that provides services for 10 unique clients. As the Communications Associate of the company, I work across our departments to create email marketing blasts and social media posts.

 

Aside from communications, another passion I have is researching my family’s genealogy. For my undergraduate Honors Capstone project, I produced The Zemba Family Story, a documentary that told the story of my great-great grandparents. It was such a rewarding experience to merge my passion of genealogy and video into one project, and I am proud to know that my ancestors’ stories are being told for future generations.

 

When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time together with my family, seeing Broadway shows, researching my genealogy, and practicing piano.
